The next stop after Colmar is Annecy, located in the southeast of France. You can go there through train or you can do Blabla car rideshare. We took the latter and was able to drive by Switzerland on the way to Annecy. It will take around 4 hours, if you don’t miss your exit (cause we did, haha!).
Annecy is also known as the “Venice of the Alps” and is popular for Lake Annecy and the view of the snow-capped mountains.

Look for a hotel/hostel or Airbnb near the “Old Annecy” or Vieille Ville so you can just walk around. They don’t have a lot of cabs or train in that area.

Old Annecy used to be a settlement for the Romans and it housed the court of the counts of Geneva. You will see a few small castles and museums in the area near Lake Annecy.
Two to three days is relatively enough to explore the area and spend time doing some activities in the lake.

Next stop: Aix-en-Provence! 🙂
